Evidence & capture standard
Enroofe labels what it can establish, not what a user hopes an image means. Evidence and conclusion remain separate.
Evidence tiers
| Tier | What it means | What it does not mean |
|---|---|---|
| OFFICIAL SOURCE | A dated source attributable to the relevant authority or responsible organisation. | Not automatically a health or safety judgement. |
| CORROBORATED | Independent evidence materially agrees on the relevant fact. | Not automatic proof of cause. |
| LOCATION-RECORDED | A live Enroofe web capture passed the server challenge, image-hash, two-fix location-continuity and moderation checks. | Not absolute proof of location; not proof the scene is unaltered; not proof of a treatment event. |
| APP-ATTESTED | Future native capture additionally passes platform app/device integrity checks. | Still not absolute fraud elimination or causal proof. |
| UNKNOWN | The evidence available is insufficient. | Not “nothing happened”, “untreated” or “safe”. |
Approved public wording for web field capture
“Captured through Enroofe Field Capture at an approximate location, with device location recorded at capture time and reviewed before publication.”
What a photograph may describe
Visible signage, mowing or cutting, vegetation colour/condition, mulch/surface condition, wet foliage, visible dye, path/verge edges and other plainly observable details may be described factually.
What a photograph cannot establish on its own
Specific chemical identity, application time, toxicity, responsible organisation, legal breach, negligence, illness causation or a route’s safety. Those claims require independent evidence appropriate to the claim — for example an official treatment record, source-linked notice, laboratory result, or other corroboration.
Why the web tier is deliberately modest
Browser camera and geolocation permissions give Enroofe useful signals, but a compromised device or sophisticated spoofing can still falsify them. Web capture therefore receives the lower “location-recorded” tier. The native roadmap binds image hash, capture challenge, timestamp and location into Apple App Attest or Google Play Integrity-backed requests and treats the result as a stronger risk signal rather than infallible truth.
Media provenance roadmap
C2PA Content Credentials can be added where supported to carry tamper-evident provenance and editing history. C2PA strengthens provenance; it does not independently prove that the depicted scene is true or that a claimed cause is correct.
